I teach at an urban Title l school. My students are incredibly hard-working, creative, and very goal oriented. The students in my program by the end of their senior year must have completed 120 hours of community service, all the while maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
They each have a passion to make the world a better place.
They believe in a world where no matter your age, social status, or beliefs, anyone can make a difference. Their common goal has been improving the environment around their community. They strive to be the best not only in academics but to be the best person that they can be, all the while believing in a better tomorrow.
Reading is such an important skill for our students. However, reading for enjoyment is something that is often overlooked in education. This reading nook with seating, that is different from a desk, will allow students to relax and enjoying reading.
Reading is a proven technique that helps students in every content area.
Cultivating a love of reading gets harder the older the students get. Having this reading nook will allow the students a break from the normal reading for class sake which some student dislike. Any opportunity to reach a student to develop a love of learning needs to be taken.
