My first grade students live in a rural area and are excited to come to school every day! We build a strong sense of community right away in our classroom and focus on important academics, but also important life skills (like empathy, standing up for others, and responsibility).
My students are eager to learn and many have overcome so many obstacles already in their short little lives.
Our school and community work very hard to support them in their educational journey along with their families, but we need help sometimes to do that too! Thank you for considering to support my classroom and kiddos!
My Project
First grade is the crucial year where students learn how to read. They need as many positive experiences with books as possible. Since my students come from varying backgrounds and home situations, it is essential that I level the playing field for all of my students when they walk into my classroom.
This cozy listening center with pillows and a soft rug will help foster a love of reading, open their minds to amazing literacy experiences.
Students can be exposed to classic children's books, diverse books, new pictures books, historical fiction, and many other genres through this listening center that they may not be able to experience otherwise.
