The students in my class have different talents and strengths. One thing that remains the same is that they care about each other and help each other. My students dream of being astronauts, police officers, scientists and even the President of the United States!
These children come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
We truly have a multicultural classroom where we all learn from each other. I have English language learners, special needs students and gifted students. All of my students are talented in some way!
Remember the days when you had to sit in a hard chair all day long to learn? Those days are over! I am a modern-minded teacher who looks for comfortable ways for students to learn. Each day in my classroom, we have a time called "independent reading". That's when kids get to pick their favorite comfy spot and grab a book to read while I'm teaching guided reading groups.
Flexible seating is highly motivating for kids who love their own time and space to learn.
Students bring their "book boxes" with them to the spot they have chosen in the room where they read and complete written responses. The book boxes hold the books they picked that they'd like to continue reading over a period of time.
This new furniture is expensive and difficult to acquire on my own. I appreciate any donations toward my project!
