My students need a comfortable carpet with well defined spots for personal space during rug time. They also need cozy cushions to sit on while working at our lowered tables.
I teach a class of 24 absolutely amazing, very active, bright eyed and eager to learn kindergartners! They arrive each day with such excitement and a true hunger for knowledge. To say that my classroom is high energy, is an understatement. My kiddos thrive when learning is fun, engaging and active . I enjoy creating differentiated, engaging stations to keep my 5 and 6 year old students moving and learning at the same time.
Our day begins with reader's workshop.
We participate in active Daily 5 stations to help enhance our literacy skills. We practice word work, reading and writing during this time. Later, we participate in math workshop where kids are encouraged to visit stations to investigate, explore, compare, analyze, measure and just have fun while learning. In addition, we explore science and social studies during theme time. Students are excited to investigate themes such as community helpers and space. It is my goal to make school an absolutely unforgettable, amazing place to be! I want my students to leave me with a love for learning.
My Project
The carpet we currently use is too small which can make rug time challenging. The new colors and shapes carpet is spacious enough with defined spots for 24 energetic kindergarteners. In providing individual spots, my kiddos will be more attentive and comfortable during rug time. In addition, I’m asking for cushions for our post office and and our writing center. These favorite daily 5 stations have lowered tables but the children currently sit on the floor while working. The cushions will provide a comfortable place to sit while working at the stations. These items will be cherished by my kiddos for many years.
