My Students

My students are sixth graders, attending an intermediate school, in Connecticut. They come from all areas of town and are mostly from an urban setting. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. In our district, funding is extremely limited, and access to resources is almost non-existent. I want my classroom to be a place where my students can comfortably learn, in a safe and exciting environment, but I also want to give them every opportunity possible to help them succeed.

My Project

My students love having options for different types of seating. Recently, they asked if we could have more places to work around the room. Since I love giving them flexible seating options, we are asking for a Flex-Space Cozy Workspace Bundle that will give my students a small chair and couch. This is part 3 of our project request.

These spaces will help to create a welcoming space for reading, group work, or independent work.

When I asked students to write why they wanted these options, they said that "when we have a comfortable place to work, it helps us concentrate more."
