Cozy Corners for Creative Collaboration!

Help me give my students the flexible seating they need for collaboration and movement within the classroom to include a kidney shaped table is perfect guided reading groups to engage in lively discussion, and for small groups to work effectively.

My Students

My students arrive each day full of eager enthusiasm for new exploration, in their world of learning. They come from a diverse variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Some arrive as English Language Learners with very limited understanding of the language. The Intermediate Learning Center integrates their students into my classroom for science, writing, homeroom and specials. These students struggle with social emotional issues while trying to learn the challenging curriculum. Their diagnoses include a wide range on the Autism Spectrum. Frequent movement and hands-on activities are important prerequisites to their learning.

My Project

The kidney table and rolling chair will provide my students with a work space where they are able to collaborate on all sorts of research projects.

Working at tables in comfortable seating allows students to think more creatively and find new solutions for problems.

Science, technology, robotics, engineering, art and math are all engaged in collaboratively in the adult working world.

I want our 5S classroom to incorporate a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Freedom for movement is important for growing minds and bodies.

This classroom seating is condusive to mindfulness, being aware of one's thinking in the moment, and is proven to reduce anxiety and stress.
