Cozy Corner

Help me give my students sensory tiles, balance board, recliner rocker, canopy with lights and a weighted stuffed cat for a welcoming space where their emotional and sensory needs can be appropriately met.

My Project

As a school social worker, my job is to promote students' access to their education. With this in mind, I have been working to provide a safe and comforting environment that my K-12 students can access when dysregulated. These specific items on my wishlist will help me to complete my cozy corner, where students can come to (co-)regulate during times of distress and prepare to return to class.

Many of my students are sensory-seeking, so I have intentionally chosen items to support their needs.

From the textured floor tiles which are made up of comforting and regulating materials, to the wooden rocker that provides vestibular input; these items will engage my students and ultimately encourage their re-engagement in class, as well as promote their mental health and overall well-being.
