My favorite thing about first graders is their enthusiasm for everything we do! They love to work together and learn from each other. Collaborative learning is an important part of our day and each student brings something different to our group.
My first grade students love to learn!
They enjoy doing interactive notebooks, working in groups, learning to read and learning about math through lessons and play. Some of our favorite units throughout the year include life cycles, author studies, community helpers, space, living and non living, famous people, and fable.
A learning rug would provide a comfortable and cozy space for students to learn and play. We spend a large amount of time during our day doing group work but at the present time we do not have a cozy spot to gather. Students love to hear stories read aloud, but right now they are sitting on the cold tile floor. I want to provide my students with a space where they all feel like part of the group.
Reading is such an important part of first grade and providing an inviting atmosphere for these little learners!
Families in our school would love to see a warm place for their children to learn to enjoy everything school has to offer!
