I teach all levels Italian to amazing students in an urban setting! Many of them are on free and reduced lunch. They have the opportunity to choose other foreign language. I find that those who choose to take the nontraditional route, are enthusiastic and creative when it comes to acquiring Italian. They are excited to explore the language through reading and story telling. A reading nook and leveled books to start with will be so appreciative. I would love to give the opportunity for my students to improve their Italian skills, and reading is the key!
My Project
All of my students want to learn Italian. My funding my project you will help them improve their skills. Acquiring Italian through Comprehensible Input (CI) is how we all learned our first language; through listening to our families speak to us and reading books. Having a Free Volunteer Reading Corner, my students will have a variety of leveled books to choose from to increase their Italian language input. Help me create a cozy corner for my students to enjoy reading in Italian. I have requested flexible seating. Bean bags and bungee seats add comfort and a relaxed atmosphere. The books I have chosen are of different reading levels and interests.
