My Students

"My teacher and her 92 year old mom bought our class a beautiful, soft rug but now it has a giant "karbunkler" that trips me every single day of my life and NOTHING we do will fix it!" exclaimed our kinder-friend.

Forty-four enthusiastic kindergarteners use this area every day at our school of 250 amazing kindergarteners.

We do everything on this rug from making friends, singing and dancing, learning to read and be an author, to acting out math story problems. This area is full of joy and challenges, hard work and fun.

My Project

With the giant "karbunkler". as the students dubbed it, we have a bump that runs the length of the rug so it is a safety hazard and will need to be replaced. Not only do we need to replace it for aesthetic reasons, the rug also covers all of the cords that connect our computer with our document camera. The new rug will be a safe, inviting area with great literacy potential. It is designed with colorful alphabet and phonics activities on it. It will also make our classroom bright and cheerful and draw children to the library area when they have center time. It will be a very welcoming area to gather together with our friends and families.

This rug will be the focal point of our classroom.
