Hi! I have some awesome third graders this year. They are eager beavers who love learning. They can be competitive, but it's because they want to learn new things. They help others who struggle and are really team players.
They are also fantastic readers!
They love spending time in our school and classroom libraries. I love how they challenge themselves in choosing a "just right" book. I feel as though they have been exposed to so many genres of books this year and they are learning to expand their reading .
My Project
I have been teaching for several years now and I have noticed that my students are more inspired to read if they are comfortable. Over the years, I've seen how my colleagues rooms are very comfortable and the students love relaxing while reading their favorite books!
My hope is that my students will want to go to our classroom library more simply because it's more cozy.
Research shows that reading achievement actually increases when students have a soft place to read. Reading is such an important skill. It can take you places you've never been before. Reading stretches your imagination. This cozy and comfortable area will inspire them to read more and become lifelong readers, plus it looks cool! The bean bag chairs and pillows will ensure that my students have a warm, engaging classroom environment!
