Our students are an inquisitive bunch of learners. They come from many backgrounds, and most have been in our school since pre-school. We are the only Pre-K through eighth-grade school in our district.
Our school is located in an urban environment where students struggle to find resources to attain 21st-century skills.
Many of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch, yet these students set high expectations for themselves and meet their goals. They work hard, aim high, and want more and more knowledge.
Our school has a great attendance rate and high parent involvement.
This year I have moved to a new space in my building. With that change comes the need to spruce up the area. I have already brought in some chairs and cushions from home BUT....the floors are beige tile and do not scream "I am a great, comfortable reading spot. Grab a book and relax".
Having these rugs will make the space more appealing for the students and encourage them to grab that book and settle in.
This project will create a cozy home-like environment in our reading area and I am hoping that the students never want to put their books down.
