Cozy, Comfortable, Safe: A Rug for All Learners

My Students

I am blessed to work with students who are energetic and genuinely want to learn. I work in a low income school district where a high percentage of my students are on free and reduced lunch.

I want my classroom to be a safe and secure environment for all of my students.

Students strive to do their best on a daily best. They are full of energy and need a cozy place to feel comfortable so they are ready to learn.

My Project

The large classroom rug will be placed in front of my classroom. This rug will provide a safe place for my students to gather for classroom lessons, show and tell and read aloud time. Each morning we will begin our day by meeting on the rug. We will also end our day on the classroom rug.

It will foster a classroom of community learners and will make my lessons more engaging and effective.

Moving from the classroom rug to stations or spots around the room will help build independence among my students. Overall the large classroom rug will have many benefits for my students in my class.
