My students need a cozy carpet to sit on during our daily instruction time. This carpet is a great option because my students will each have their own indivdual spot with space!
Do you remember having a classroom that felt like it was your home away from home?
I have a group of nineteen students who I love and adore; they are a very diverse group of children who come from a variety of backgrounds.
No matter the differences they come to school with, I try to make my classroom their common ground and a home away from home.
Our classroom is one that knows no color, no ethnicity, and no socioeconomic status; we are all friends eager to learn. Our school is located in a small community that is not very wealthy; we are a Title I school based on the percentage of students that receive free and reduced price lunch.
With that being said, we have a great group of students who have learned that our school is a safe place to come to, one that they will receive a fair education from, teachers who are passionate about their jobs, their next meal (for some), love, and acceptance.
I am very proud to be a teacher at my school, and am honored to work for an amazing principal that stands up for her students and ensures that they receive the education they deserve.
My Project
A carpet may seem like a silly thing to ask for, but not when you teach little ones! I do most all my instruction on the floor where we can all sit together and discuss things as a whole group. My students and I love this time with each other, but I have found they are on top of each other, as well as in one another's personal space.
The carpet I have requested is one that allows my students to have their own personal square and color so they can have one to call their own. That is not even the best part! One of our math standards is data and graphing, and the carpet allows me to be hands-on with graphing because of its design!
As I have mentioned before, I want my classroom to be a nurturing environment, one that is comfortable and cozy for my students. Most of our day is spent on the floor in whole group time, and this carpet would be such an essential piece to our everyday learning environment!

My students would love to come and learn on a carpet like this one. To be able to have a designated spot just for them would make the transition time a breeze, and more importantly a great way to learn.
