My students need a comfortable rug to sit on when working on centers, chairs to sit around my small-group reading table and book shelves on which to keep our books.
Little Cypress Elementary was faced with a nightmare that no one ever wants to face. In August, Hurricane Harvey came to our area and brought lots of water. Our school received two to four inches of water in the entire school. Not only did our students lose their school, they also lost their homes, pets and some had to be boated out of their neighborhood from their roof tops.
This storm has impacted our daily lives but we are trying to make the best of it.
A lot of our school activities and supplies were damaged in the storm. We are currently holding school at a local church and we are very grateful for this. The students are adjusting well but it's still not the same.
My Project
Our classroom needs book shelves to store the books that were donated to our classroom. Students enjoy going through books to find what they want to read.
A cozy carpet will make our classroom inviting and students will have an enjoyable place to read.
Students enjoy reading books while laying on the carpet.
Students need stools to sit on when working at my table in small groups.
Having these materials in our class will help students find a love for reading, enjoy reading in a comfortable spot and a place to sit for small group. Making our classroom a literature rich environment has helped students grow and learn in many ways.
