Help me give my students new picture books to enjoy. With the cold winter, we spend many days indoors. What could be better than curling up with a good book!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a group of highly energetic, amazing children with Autism in grades 1-5. Many students with Autism have difficulties in learning new information, communicating, and social interaction.
My students are energetic, enthusiastic learners.
The students I teach range from mild to severe on the Autism spectrum. Finding activities that can encompass all my little learners can be difficult!
I teach in an urban elementary school in Wisconsin with a high poverty rate. All of my kids have excellent attendance and have a love of learning!
My Project
In my classroom, I strive to create a love of reading. I am requesting new books for story time and independent reading. I LOVE reading aloud to my class. Story time allows me to model fluency and introduce different genres of stories to my students. For some of my students, reading can be an overwhelming task, but exposure to books is essential.
These books will continue to enhance our extensive classroom library.
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy, they are able to get comfy in a bean bag chair and read! All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. We spend most of our cold winter indoors. Nothing is better than grabbing a good book and a bean bag chair on a cold winter day!
