Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school, where I teach Kindergarten Dual Language students. According to last year's statistics, 493 students are enrolled in our school, 82% of whom live in high-need households, 36% are considered English language learners, and 8% are reported to receive special education services.
As a dual language teacher, my goal is to provide the necessary resources that my students need to learn, explore, and create.
My kindergarteners will be the 3rd class of dual language learners in our school.
My Project
My kindergarteners will be learning social skills necessary to succeed in class like how to share, read and write, and be kind to one another. My goal is to create a classroom community where students feel respected and safe. Kindergarten is the time to enhance the development of social and emotional awareness that will be important for the future success of my students.
Through reading Elephant and Piggie books, my kindergarteners will learn right from wrong, appropriate behavior, respect, tolerance, and good manners.
I want to develop a love of reading in my students with a cozy classroom library that is neatly organized with fun and engaging books. Please consider supporting my students love of reading with these priceless resources.
