At my school, we have a great family community and we all come together to support one another. The students are always the priority in which the teachers find special ways to implement different structures and strategies to make each student safe and successful.
The students show up each day ready to learn and I am eager to teach!
I want all my students to feel safe and comfortable. Many of our students are faced with challenges such as mental disabilities, physical disabilities, lack of parent support, low self-confidence and so on. At my school, we tend to all of these needs, specifically students with autism, as we have an entire ASD unit. As an educator, I need to keep all of these challenges in mind when preparing lessons and setting up my classroom.
When is the last time you remember diving into a good book while sitting in a hard chair and desk? I don't remember either! I aim to make my classroom library calm and cozy, while providing a unique variety of genres for children to choose from.
Reading is a challenge for many of my students and if they are going to try their best everyday, then they should be comfortable!
The items I'm requesting will aid in my students' learning. With the pillows and chairs, they can find a welcoming spot and relax while engaging in reading. The items will provide a different type of stimuli for students and it is something that I do not have access to in my school. Students will use these during their independent reading time which happens for a minimum of twenty minutes a day.
