My students are English Language learners that come from diverse backgrounds. All my students immigrate from other countries and are learning English for the first time. They face many barriers and hardships; but always work hard and persevere to find stability for themselves and their families.
I admire their dedication to learning and I'm grateful to have such amazing students!
My Project
The items I am requesting will be given to my students who are at high-risk of suffering adverse effects of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and mental health disorders due to COVID `19. Because of this risk, I want to be prepared and have items that will support their needs. The items include hygiene items, cold-weather hats, gloves and blankets, snacks, and hybrid computer equipment to enhance their digital and in-class learning experience.
Students know that school is a place they can trust to get the support they need in times of crisis.
Additionally to support their digital learning, I am requesting a multidirectional microphone so that students working remotely can hear me form the classroom. In addition, a utility cart with wheels is needed in order to move the camera and microphone around the room to include remote students in the in-class activities. Finally, a translator ear-piece is needed to eliminate the language barrier and be able to communicate with them and their families.
