COVID-Safe and Awesome Alternative Learning Tools!

Help me give my students alternative learning tools which can help them engage in growing their reading skills. These washable (COVID "safe") alternative seating, fidgets, and highlighted guide bookmarks will help my students focus on their reading lessons.

My Students

Our middle school is near the bottom of Mount Mansfield in Jericho, Vermont. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to access multiple spaces for Outdoor Learning as we are surrounded by nature with the Browns River and Mills Riverside Park which has trails, open fields, and woods adjacent to our school grounds!

Although the method and environment in which they learn best vary, each child in our school is engaged in growing their brains and building relationships!  I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

My Project

These washable alternative learning tools will help each of my students feel grounded, respected, and safe. I currently only have three flexible seating options but have six students in my reading groups. Having these flexible seating options and fidgets will allow ALL my students the opportunity to safely move their bodies while in our group lesson, which will allow them to focus on their academics. The plastic bookmarks will help students who have visual tracking or attention challenges by highlighting the text line they are reading. THANK YOU for your consideration and generosity!
