Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a wonderful K-5 urban Title 1 school in New Jersey. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus our students have to be taught remotely from home. Many lack the resources and materials needed to be successful during this stressful time.
My goal during distance learning is to continue inspiring my students to be avid readers and writers.
I would love create a home learning experience that allows them to be productive and engaged at all times. A classroom away from the classroom. A distance learning experience that promotes inspiration, wonder, and innovation.
My students all have different learning needs and styles, but we all come together as one when the love of education is evident in a setting that nurtures such goals.
My Project
My students are an amazing group of kids that are devoted to exploring, engaging, and discovering the world around them. During this time of distance learning I would love for them to continue this trajectory. I am requesting copies of the book Wonder so that my students can explore the world of Auggie Pullman and truly understand the power of "When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind." To provide a story that will captivate my students and build their empathy of others. To build kindness and allow them to find the beauty within what makes us all different.
My students will be able to experience, grow, and learn from the characters depicted in this story.
This book will allow for my students to gain a further appreciation for reading and the author's writing style.
This donation will ensure that my students have the basic supplies and a wonderfully written novel that will support them during distance learning.
My students will be beyond appreciative and surprised to receive these materials. Help me put a much deserving SMILE on my students face!
