Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 4-5 years old, are amazing children that come from low income households and a diverse cultural background. 50% of my classroom are English Language learners that came from inmigrant families from Nepal in Asia, Honduras, El Salvador y Guatemala in Central America and Mexico. My school is located in a low income community with diverse cultural backgrounds.
The majority of my students come from low income families where English is not their primary language but they are eager to learn to write and read in English and have a bright future.
My energetic students are curious, they like to explore, learn and discover new things, they love to learn everything from the alphabets to the solar system.
My Project
My students are 4-5 years old who can't read by themselves yet, most of their parents can't read or write in English, that's one of the reasons why I think that the doc camera will be a great addition to my online instruction. I want my students to enjoy the visuals as they learn English during our read alouds, literacy, math, science, social studies and art activities.
I also asked you for your kind donation of literacy and math flash cards that will help me to teach my students all the skills that they will need when returning to school, these flashcards will help them to build fluency and get confidence, it also will help my students to increase their vocabulary and to make connections between home language and English.
