I currently have twenty-eight first-graders in my classroom with twenty-eight different personalities. My students are energetic, lovable, and smart. We often have discussions about classroom expectations, the latest Disney film, and cupcakes (they know how much I love cupcakes).
My students are curious and naturally entertaining.
What tickles me pink is when one of my students repeats something I have said to them often; "Lower your vocal range." I get a kick out of hearing one of my students say to his peers, "Miss Montgomery said to lower your vocal range!
I have no right to ask for what I am asking for, given the current situation of our country. COVID-19 is robbing our students of traditional (brick & mortar) education and social interaction that is needed as much as we need the sun, water, and food to survive.

Unprecedented lessons and expectations have been placed on home learners and teachers alike. The only way to take back control and let this virus know that we may be bruised, but we are not broken, is to see the faces of my little first grader and give them every opportunity to learn from home by using the proper equipment that would allow this to happen. I am asking for 38 Chromebooks. My district is strained technology-wise, so it is almost impossible for students to obtain or borrow iPads or laptops.
