My classroom is made up of 14 diverse learners. They all come from different cultural backgrounds and range in their education levels. With that being said, each child is beyond amazing in their own way. They each bear a piece of the puzzle that completes our classroom family.
My students have been missing a piece of the normalcy in their lives since the quarantine from COVID-19 hit.
They are confused and restless as they try to continue learning from home while both parents are busy working and engaging in non-stop meetings. Their engagement in our daily Zoom sessions give them a small piece of normalcy in their lives, as well as mine.
My Project
My pre-k students have been engaging in remote learning since March 16. They have been attending daily Zoom sessions so that we can retain a sense of normalcy during the current pandemic. They are thrilled to see their teachers and classmates daily; however, it can be difficult coming up with lessons that can be completed live due to everyone not having the same materials at home.
The curriculum we follow, High Scope, revolves around hands-on learning.
This can be challenging for the children who have parents working from home as well. If my students can have materials readily available, it would make things easier for everyone. In addition, this is the time of the year that we focus more on preparing them for kindergarten. These materials will assist the children in a smoother transition, as they will be able to continue working with them at home throughout the summer.
