My Students

My students are in an alternative setting. 100% of their course work is completed on a computer. They are socioeconomically at a disadvantage due to the rural nature of the county in which we reside.

With so much of their coursework being completed online, consistency with technology is key for their engagement and motivation.

As they reach the age to dropout of school, retention is growing more and more challenging.

Many students in my classroom find comfort in the consistency that is provided at school. This consistency is needed to ensure the content is received. The average reading level in my classroom is 6th grade. Making my students well behind their peers. This creates social and economic barriers when entering the workforce.

My Project

Many of my student come from homes that lack in consistency. Consistency with finances, support, and resources. Providing these resources for my student at school is key to retaining their engagement and preventing them from dropping out..

Technology is used to prepare them for the workforce by presenting their coursework in an engaging and motivating way while instilling responsibility.

Students are responsible for maintaining requirements and managing their time to complete all assignments. Reliable technology will ensure their are able to complete requirements necessary for their graduation. Assisting students in reaching this milestone will better prepare them for success in the workforce.
