This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach three rotating blocks of middle school Reading and Language Arts in a small city of fewer than 10,000 people. I have students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences with a common goal in mind. Each student comes to school ready to learn, eager to succeed, and full of questions!

Just like most 21st century students, they want to create, use technology to display their knowledge​ and collaborate on projects.

My students are worth it and we are determined to get the materials we need to have an awesome year!

My Project

Counting by 7's is an inspirational story about a young girl who overcomes grief after her parents are tragically killed in a car accident. Through this novel, my hope is that my students will find the courage and strength to take on obstacles despite the challenges that may lay ahead of them.

Every person has lots of ingredients that make them into what is always a one-of-a-kind creation - Holly Goldberg Sloan, Counting by 7's.

I want my students to know no matter how bad a situation is they each have amazing qualities that make them special. This novel will provide me with a chance to have those tough conversations and promote social and emotional growth within my classroom.
