Help me give my students the skills they need to achieve financial literacy by helping them master number concepts and math fluency. A fantastic strategy is providing my students with a Counting Collection Library.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are first-time school learners who are extremely active, motivated, excited, and may I say, adorable. A majority of my students come to my class in August knowing little or no English.
A majority of my students are Latino with three students who were born in Bangladesh.
All of my students come from families whose income falls below the poverty line. Many of my children live with multiple families in small apartments where space is at a premium.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to have taught at my school since its inception. The school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our pre K to 5th-grade students and often these are the only meals they eat in a day. The students in my class are eager to learn through motivating higher level activities. Unfortunately, I have only an hour of teacher assistant time twice a week for my active and needy four-year-olds and keeping everyone on task and learning can often be a challenge.
The more stimulating, hands-on manipulatives and centers I can rotate in my classroom, the more time I can devote to each student's individual needs.
My Project
By providing my students with a Counting Collection Library, I will be guiding the children to master skills of counting and number sense that lay the foundation for an understanding of number operations that they will need as they move up the grades.
In Counting Collections, children are given cognitively guided tasks that help them make sense of math concepts and provide them practice with counting, sorting, and grouping skills using highly motivating and stimulating manipulatives.
Students will love to manipulate, sort, and count the colorful teddy bears, fruits, bugs, and more because they are things they fully recognize. We will use these items so the children will gain math fluency in fun and engaging activities.
