Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How much is a dime worth??? How much is penny worth??? This is what we teach our students every day.
My students are wonderful 6 year old children who enjoy to come to school everyday.
They are eager learners who enjoy listening to stories with their friends. I love to teach new topics, which is great, because my students love to learn and discuss all the new things they are taught in class. Fortunately, for the students, they attend a Title 1 School that is located in the inner city of Chicago. This means all of my students qualify and receive free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Our students would be eager to learn and master the value of money if we had Magnetic Big Money we would be able to maneuver on our white boards. The magnetic money would always be on display and at students eye level so they would be able to see the coin and learning the values would be easier. The High Frequency word wall would be great to teach and display mathematical terms and symbols. This would be great because we would focus on learning a new word or money value each week. This mathematical word wall would also be displayed at students eye level so they could read and recognize money symbols at a faster rate. The number Picture Puzzles would be used at our math learning center. The stamp and solve money activity box has a variety of money problems. This would allow students to work in small groups to stamp out a variety of coins to buy items in our classroom store with a partner.
Many of the math items may seem very simple but they will make a life difference with my students future.
