Help me give my students the skills they need to help them thru life. Money concepts and telling time are 2 skills that everyone needs! The books along with the manipulatives will help reinforce these skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a school that has very diverse learners. Our school is a low-income/high poverty school that is identified as a Title I school which means many students come from families who do not have the resources and background to support learning outside the classroom. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at the school.
The students I teach have special needs and most of these kids struggle with money and telling time.
These are 2 of the most important skills that my students need to learn. These are 2 skills that they will need for the rest of their lives.
My Project
Learning to tell time and understanding money are the 2 most important math skills that must be taught and they are both skills that we all need. Students like mine, struggle with concept of money and money manipulation, they also struggle with telling time on analog clocks.
By using reading resources for these math skills, my students will have another way to learn these skills.
Combining math and reading will be very beneficial for all students in the classroom. I will use the reading resources to help my students learn to tell time on analog clock. They will also help my students learn about important money concepts and this learning will be supported by using the coin and money manipulatives. These manipulatives will give my students hands-on experience with all of the coins.
