My Students
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I tell my students, "Success comes in CANS!" They all CAN be successful in math, but we need your help! Help them master basic math concepts and skills to reduce the need for finger calculations.
My students attend school in New York state.
The school is located in one of the poorest congressional districts in the nations.
Many of my students are from immigrant families that are on public assistance or from low income households. Despite their low socioeconomic status, they are hungry for knowledge.
My Project
The reusable Write & Wipe pockets, dry erase markers, and addition and multiplication facts practice boards will help my students master basic math concepts and skills. These resources will enable my students to turn any sheet of paper into a reusable worksheet where they can practice computational skills in addition and multiplication skills until they master them without wasting paper (and saving the life of a tree!).
Many adults can recall their first job experience in a fast food restaurant.
In a few years, my students may share this experience, where mental math and computational skills are a must.
