My Project

I would like to teach my students how to manage money, collaborate and communicate with their peers, and be a positive influence on our future economy by starting a mock mini-economy in my classroom.

Students will be asked to complete a STEM challenge where they will research, create, market, and sell an innovative product that would be appealing to their classmates and make daily tasks easier.

After they have created a product, they will design a dazzling, and creative poster that they will hang from their storefront, the laminate table. They will also use this table to conduct business and display their products. They will buy and sell their goods for play money.

Students will learn the importance of marketing their products. They will accomplish this by creating business cards to distribute and producing commercials for their customers to view. While shopping and selling, students will solve real-life math problems. They will also get to experience bartering, saving, debt, and credit. Students will learn how to change prices to reflect supply and demand needs and create sales and promotional opportunities to grow a larger profit. Please help me bring this real-world problem-based​ activity to my students.
