Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K students live in a very low-income area in Dallas, Texas. In our school, our goal is to prepare them with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful. My students' age range is from early four to early five years-old. They are eager to learn new things and engage in fun and exciting learning activities. They like to learn by playing games, creating and teaching each other and me.
My students make me smile every day and gives me the inspiration to do my best in the classroom.
My Project
Calendar time will provide an opportunity for my students to become familiar with the days of the week and the months of the year. With this calendar along with the centers not only my students will learn about days and months but they will also learn about counting and number sense.
Math skills taught in early childhood education are designed to provide the foundation children need to succeed in elementary school and beyond .
Number sense, or the basics of learning about numbers, is the first vital math skill my students need to develop before reaching kindergarten. By focusing on number sense, I will provide math skills that are necessary for future concepts and advanced calculations. Learning simple skills like number sense, math concepts and simple application of ideas like adding, subtracting, patterning, graphing etc., will prepare my students to move into elementary education.
