Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am super excited to tell you about my students. I teach a group of 26 highly enthusiastic first graders. They love to talk, play, and their little faces light up as they learn new concepts.
I enjoy coming into work every day because every day is a positive learning experience.
Our school is a Title I school, located in Gardena, California. 100 percent of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
The majority of my students are second language learners which means they are also learning English at school. Although many come from low socio-economic backgrounds, the teachers and staff try to instill important values such as love, determination, responsibility, and perseverance. For many of my students, school is the only place that they can count on for books and other educational resources.
No matter their social or economic status, the teachers, parents, and the community share the same vision:
We want all of our students to be happy and we want them to have a successful education!
My Project
Hi! I am requesting basic school supplies because my students will use these supplies on a daily basis. As I teach math and writing, I like to keep my students engaged. I enjoy teaching math by doing daily Math Warm-Ups. But the part I enjoy the most is watching my students take part in their own learning. My first graders will use the markers and poster pads to solve and represent word problems. The multipurpose paper and the pencils will be used for a variety of writing ideas. The paper will come in handy when they need a writing template to write a story, an opinion, label a diagram, or quite simply to express their writing.
The possibilities are endless!
