Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work with fantastic students that come from struggling socio-economic neighborhoods. My school has a student population where over 65% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. As we all know, when a student's primary needs are not being met, they have a hard time focusing in class. That is why I am asking for blue or gray sweaters for our students. We are a uniform school and I want to provide appropriate clothing for our students. Thank you!

My Project

As a School Counselor I often have students in my office because they need a short break. Some of these students will just want to sit quietly and be alone. Others will need some stimulation, listen to music color, draw take pictures of my Bonsai Tree. There are times that I can accommodate these simple requests, or at least some of them, other requests I do not have the technology in my office to assist the student. This is where a Microsoft Surface would be useful. Students could get the stimulation that they need in on a sensory break in a safe area. Please consider adding this to my office and helping out my students during National School Counselors Week.
