This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
If you have a problem in one area of your life it will affect other areas as well. Today's children face problems that many of us didn't deal with until adulthood. The school counselor needs to be able to intervene and help students get back on track.
My students live in the inner city and attend a public school that is primarily low to moderate income families with over 90% quailing for free or reduced lunch.
Our students are dealing with many issues such as divorced families, bereavement, bullying, and emotional and physical abuse.
My Project
I am requesting resource books to provide a quality counseling experience. These resource books will provide me with creative activities to use with the students to help them express their concerns in a comfortable and non-threatening way. These books will provide over 60 age appropriate activities each dealing with issues ranging from divorce to emotional problems.
A quality counseling program is crucial to a school's success.
Students must have their personal and social problems worked out in order to focus on academics. Before a school can raise test scores we must meet the needs of whole child.
