I teach guidance classes to every student in grades K-2 each week. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and many need counseling support throughout the school year. Guidance lessons cover academic, personal/social, and career topics. Counseling groups focus on areas such as friendships, coping with divorce, grief, and study skills.
There are approximately 450 students who will benefit from this project every week of the school year.
The books will be used as part of a comprehensive guidance program.
My Project
These materials will help me deliver effective weekly guidance lessons and counseling groups to the approximately 450 students I serve. These books focus on building empathy, character, social skills, career and college awareness, academic skills, resilience, coping skills, and anger management skills. These areas are vital for K-2nd graders. The particular books I am ordering have been part of my guidance lessons at two other schools over the last four years, so I know they will be highly useful. In fact, it is hard to imagine how I can possibly run my program without them. Please help me fund this project so I can effectively deliver guidance classes and counseling groups to the students of our school.
