Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work on the East side of San Antonio at a middle school of roughly 750 students. This year is significantly different than previous. We are functioning in a hybrid model, where some students are learning online and some are learning in person. All students are working hard to close gaps and make academic progress this year.
My Project
These snacks and treats will be used as incentives for good behavior, academic excellence, and participation in extracurricular activities such as the 6th grade book club. Typically these are something I would buy out of pocket but this year that has proven difficult.
In addition to sweet treats, I have picked filling and substantive snacks that are actually of some nutritional value.
Occasionally if a student is late, they will miss breakfast and I hope to be able to prove a snack during these times to hold them over until lunch.
