Help me give my students a safe learning environment free of extension cords! This Apple TV set up will allow me to monitor the room with my device, while ridding our projector area of tripping hazards!
My students are an energetic and creative bunch of 8th graders, set on changing the world one instagram post at a time. We move around our classroom, engaging in debates, Socratic seminars and even a little bit of drama.
Our students come from all walks of life and are truly compassionate and engaged learners.
Our school is more than 50% free socio-economically disadvantaged, 18% Special Ed and 38% Latino. This means that over have of our students qualify for our free and reduced lunch program.
In October 2017, our school and community faced something that we never thought we would, with devastating fires in the city limits of Santa Rosa, and we are still feeling the aftermath of the effects. Our students need to feel safe and secure at their school. It's our second home away from home.
With your kind and generous gifts, you are helping to make our campus bright and beautiful once again!
My Project
Our classroom is FULL of books, computers and engaged students. With an average class size of 33, it's relatively difficult to get around without tripping on someone, let alone the cord construction that keeps all of my gadgets connected.
An Apple TV will reduce our cord issue significantly and will make the classroom safer and easier to move around.
With the added safety benefit, it will also mean that I can wander around the room, checking student learning while pushing my lessons forward. Your donation means I won't be chained to the front of the classroom; I'll be able to engage with my students on a much more immediate and relevant level.
