This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. They are also students who have special needs. Parents do their best to provide the bare essentials that their kids need throughout the school year but many times that is all that they can give them. Many of the families have at least 4 kids in the school. It is a lot to ask a family to purchase materials when some of them cannot pay their utility bills. Although the parents and the school community do their best to provide for the children, with budget cuts it is getting harder to provide them with tools for learning.

My Project

As the school year is ending toner is in great demand for our copy machine. Copies of reading material are essential for my students to dissect and analyze reading materials.

It is essential for a students learning experience to have copies of reading material that they can annotate.

This will enhance their reading comprehension at every reading level. With copies of short stories or poems, students are able to note various elements of literature. Students can identify and demonstrate their understanding of figurative language, setting, tone, and mood. They can also analyze the characters and show how they change and grow throughout the story.
