Imagine working hard on a project, pouring your heart into it. You add the finishing touch and, beaming with pride, inform the teacher that you are finished! She congratulates you on a job well done, then you have to delete the project because there is no printer in the room that you can print to. This is the case in my fourth grade classroom. My school is in a lower income area and is struggling to work with our severely slashed budget.
My students are super creative and extremely inquisitive. They love showing off their work, but too often the printers located outside of my classroom are not available to them. They also enjoy sharing their work with their peers, copying it and dispersing it with pride shining on their faces.
Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to adequately provide them with this outlet. A printer/copier in my classroom would open up a new world of possibilities for them. They could print their projects that they worked so hard to complete. They could also copy and share resources or activities that they find with the rest of the class.
This project would mean the world to my students. You could help bring that glow of pride to a fourth graders face as they present me with their completed work. Please consider empowering my students to take ownership of their creations through printing and copying their masterpieces!
