Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a NYC public school teacher in Brooklyn, NY. I teach speech and language skills to children in grades K-5. Our school is a Title I school with 83% of our students receiving free lunch. I have many great books and worksheets for my students to use to help enhance their skills. However, we need a small copy machine to make these worksheets more available to all the students. Our school has wonderful school aides who make copies for the teachers but due to the enormous amount of copying required throughout the school, it can often take a long time for the teachers to get the copies. A small copier in the classroom would greatly enhance the students' learning experience as it would provide them with the many materials that they need in a timely manner. It would also enable me to quickly copy additional sheets if the students need extra help in a specific area learned that day.
