Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work for a low socioeconomic community. My students are ready and willing to learn, but it would be a better place to learn if they had specific supplies in the classroom. About 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, and nearly 70% are English Language Learners.
My students are young, but this is why it is so important to shape and impact their young lives!
My students truly are eager to learn and willing to do their personal best! I am so impressed by them!! At my school we like to say that we are all College bound... well, my students may be a little young for college right now, but they will be prepared for success!
My Project
My students need a lot of fine motor practice, coloring and writing practice. Not all learning can be fun and games, some of it needs to be hard work and dedication. My students are up for the challenge! They work hard and they LOVE to get down to business. Copy paper sounds like something teachers get automatically, but that is not the case for every district or every school. My students need paper to practice their fine motor and wrist skills. Also we need copy paper to celebrate their successes with specified awards that I can print in color. Also those super cool Hot Dots pens will allow my students to practice the letter names and sounds with instant verbal feedback.
