My students need copier paper for their daily assignments. Our school does not provide copier paper for our classrooms. Considering that as a special education teacher I am not supplied with consumable curriculum.
My class of all boys is always an adventure! You never know what they will ask or say at any given time. These boys are in my K-3 self contained classroom. These students are identified with having social and emotional disabilities. In my class we work heavily on academics and social skills. Most of these students also have academic challenges. These challenges stem from many different reasons, whether it is a learning disability or the fact that they have missed so much school because of behavior.
Our school is in a community that is not afraid of hard work.
The area we are in became popular because it was an area that people could find a job and make a home for themselves. It was greatly affected by the railroad when it first came through. It is still a working class area with many of our families finding themselves living paycheck to paycheck.
My goal for my students is always to get them back into their original classrooms but my real passion is to give them the tools to be successful in and out of the classroom.
My Project
Copier paper is a necessary for everyday assignments. Our school does not provide copier paper or consumable curriculum for our students. This in turns means we make lots and lots of copies in our classroom for daily assignments. Classroom teachers are expected to either provide their own paper or to ask the families to provide paper.
As simple as a request of copier paper sounds, it is necessary for success of our classroom.
My students range from Kindergarten to third grade. They are all different levels academically - so as a teacher I need to differentiate their work daily. Without having consumable curriculum I rely heavily on making sure they have engaging work that will help them be successful.
