My kids are fabulous! There are always new things to teach them, and always new things for me to learn from them. I am a speech therapist working with children ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. On average I provide speech therapy to 55 children in a school that has over 50% low income status. No day is the same.
In the morning, I may be paint-splattered by a kindergartener and learn about hashtags with a fifth grader in the afternoon.
My students face many challenges. They all receive special education services due to a variety of handicapping condition. Their needs include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, seizure disorder, intellectual disabilities, specific learning disabilities, emotional disability, and speech language impairment.
No matter what challenges my students face, there is one thing every child wants. They want to be accepted for who they are unconditionally.
My Project
Because I work entirely with children who receive special education services, there is a great deal of paperwork involved! I need a printer to make multiple copies of IEP (Individual Education Plans) paperwork. The minimum number of pages needed for an IEP is 12 pages X 3 copies for a total of 36 pages just for the most basic meeting. That may not sound like a lot of pages, but this is a minimum amount.
IEP meetings can have up to 30 pages and need 8-10 copies --240 pages to 300 pages just for one meeting!
In addition to printing, I also make a lot of copies. I send work home with each child for their parents to practice with them. I typical send home two or three pages. I work with 55 kids so a copier in my office would save me so much time.
The HP PageWide Pro would save me so much time. I would not have to print out a copy on my old printer, then take it down the the teachers' workroom to make the rest of the copies I need for each IEP meeting. I need copies of homework for each child and each child works on different goals. With the HP copier/printer, I will be able to make the needed copies in my office rather than having to lug all the originals to the workroom to make the copies I need.
