Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students who are in my classroom live in a very poor area of the inner city. Our school is a Title I school, so all of our students qualify for free lunches. Keeping these hardships in mind, our students and parents are some of the most wonderful people I have ever worked with.
They are caring and full of life.
For some of my students, I am the only thing that remains constant in their lives. A lot of my students come from shelters or single parent families with lots of siblings. Although my school is a Title I school, I have never felt more loved than I do with the students I teach, or more rewarded.
My Project
I am asking for a copier in order to create paper/pencil packets for my students. Most of my students are lacking both internet/device capabilities in order to access online learning resources. I have half of my students needing paper/pencil packets for at home learning. I have been printing packets with my printer at home, but it is using a great amount of ink. If I were able to print one packet and then copy this packet it would help immensely. These packets are then mailed to the homes of my students every three weeks. Within these packets, the students are given materials to work on handwriting, phonics, math, reading, science, social studies, as well as guided reading materials. Without these packets, half of my families would go with no educational resources for their students during this time.
