I am an Exceptional Student Education Teacher. I work with students in grades 1-5 who have been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities or autism. They struggle with reading fluency and/or comprehension in the general curriculum and are pulled out for part of the day to receive small group reading instruction.
" No matter how challenging it gets, we will not give up!"
My students are great fighters. I truly admire how they attack each day with such optimism. They put out so much effort to overcome their disabilities. Most importantly, they work as a team to help each other, showing so much compassion when their peers encounter challenging moments. One would say to another, " You can do it!" or "Just keep practicing and you will get it." My students constantly praise each other and are open to productive criticism by each other as they are aware that every class member is like a concerned family member who has each other's interest at heart.
Working with students such as these has reaffirmed my belief that teaching is THE most rewarding job!
My Project
The copy machine will be used to print instructional materials, especially images which are frequently used in instruction to enhance my students' understanding of abstract concepts. Due to the large number of teachers at my school, our copier is either nonoperational or is being used. It will save me time if I have a copier in my room so my time can be used for more important things such as planning for my students.
Given a copied passage, students will be able to highlight supporting details in the text to prove a point"
When using textbooks, my students are not able to write in them. Having the copier more readily accessible will make it possible to make copies of the text which will enable the students to highlight important details which will significantly help them in developing their reading skills.
