Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have 17 caring, smart, and passionate learners. I have a few ELL students, and 2 students that are provided with speech therapy. There are 3 things all of these materials target; cooperation, exposure, and various level learners.

The first target, cooperation.

My students have never had any school experience meaning may not have had to cooperate with other before. Therefore, many of my students are still struggling to work together as a team. These materials will be used in free centers. This is where I spread various activities around the classroom and let my students choose what activity they want to do and can move whenever they want. This gets them to play with many of their classmates and learn how to cooperate with others.

The second target, exposure. I want my student to be exposed to various academic skills they will need to know in the future such as knowing letter names, sounds, matching/knowing the capital and lowercase of a letter, quantities and how we represent them with numbers, STEM activities, etc. Magnetic letter builders and alphabet learning locks are just two of the amazing resources to help do this! These materials will help provide my students with the exposure to all of these academic skills and give them the hands-on experience to give them control of their own learning.

The third and final target, various leveled learners. I want activities that are not too hard for one group but not too easy for another. I need activities that can be used for both. These materials will be perfect for that. For example, the alphabet acorns lets my higher level students match beginning sounds to letters while it lets my lower leveled students understand that there are various objects that begin with different letters.

In conclusion, all of these materials will help my students reach these targets and create a better learning experience in the classroom.
