Help me give my students tools for personalized learning and flexible seating. The different stools would be a great addition to my classroom's flexible seating.
I teach 3rd grade and it is such an exciting time for students. During the year, the students go from being dependent 2nd graders that need a lot of guidance to more independent 3rd almost 4th graders. It is fun to watch the students during their year of transition as they become more confident learners and more in charge of their own learning.
For many of my students, school is the one good and reliable thing they have in their life.
I teach in a low-income area where over 60% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. It is extremely important for me to create a safe and loving environment for my 3rd graders and to keep school a happy place for them to be.
My Project
These materials would benefit my students by giving them more flexible seating options as I implement personalized learning. I am working to give my students some freedom and choice in their learning.
One way I am implementing flexible seating and personalized learning is by allowing students to choose a spot in the room where they can be the most successful.
I currently have some tables in different locations around the room, but only one table has stools to complete the flexible seating option.
Some students work better in groups while others work better alone. Some students like to sit on the floor while others like to stand. Some students just want to be able to move to a new spot to change things up throughout the day. Whatever the case may be, I want my students to have options and learn to make choices on their own about what is best for them.
