This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I only have 1 CD/Cassette player in my room. Many times the story that has been chosen isn't one that a child would necessarily choose. I want to give students the opportunity to be able to choose to listen to their own story on CD or cassette player. The portable CD players allow for students to hear fluent readers daily and allow them to then respond to what they heard.

One hundred percent of my students are considered low-income and do not have the "extras" they deserve such as supplies at school AND at home. They do not have books and the neighborhood is too dangerous to walk to the public library.

I need 5 small CD/cassette players so students can choose which book they would like to listen to during guided reading and literacy centers. You provide the equipment and I can "dub" the tapes and burn the CDs.

You will make it possible to give my students a choice and become excited by what they are able to read!!
