Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of learners and care about each other as a true class family. Students come together to support each other in all that they do. They are caring and compassionate and love to learn.
Our class is predominantly low income students.
Almost 50% are English Language Learners from all different countries. There are many refugees in our school and other students with challenging backgrounds. Nevertheless, the students are hard workers and dedicated to learning. We are a close-knit family of teachers and learners.
My Project
These geometric puzzles can be shaped and rebuilt into 12-pointed stars, squares, rectangles and more. This geometric brain teaser puzzle transforms with smooth gliding pieces that helps with anxiety release, concentration, sensory processing, imagination, and creativity.
These items will be used in a quiet area where students with anxiety and social issues will have a chance to refocus, reduce anxiety, and compose themselves.
This center will help a student de-escalate when upset.
Having a Cool Down Corner/Anxiety Reduction Center will enable our classes to be more responsive to children who have been through trauma, have difficulty concentrating, have emotional issues, or just have a difficult time making good choices in school. Together with Social Stories and a Reflection form, this will make a place of comfort and guidance.
